Sexy clothing for girls is a broad term and includes sexy dresses and skirts, sexy clubwear and trendy tops. Sexy clothing is what girls often want to wear although it is not always overtly sexy but more subtle and sophisticated, while other times it can run to provocative and suggestive. So what do you look for when you are shopping for sexy clothing online or in a retail outlet?

Well it depends  on how sexy do you want to go? In our society sexy often equates with shorter, tighter, more low cut and more skin showing.  This only makes sense as “normal” or non sexy clothing is generally worn for reasons having nothing to do with sex or arousing the opposite sex. Good girls are thought to wear loose fitting, appropriate length skirts and dresses, even pants. It is socially acceptable to wear clothes for warmth, modesty and comfort. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with this, it is clear that sexy clothing is quite the opposite as it is worn for expressing a woman’s sexuality, modesty has little if anything to do with it and comfort is often sacrificed altogether.

Society suggests that women should wear age appropriate clothing although that standard has become more muted and out of date as time goes on. Age appropriate usually refers to older women trying to look and perhaps even act younger than they are. It ususally is slung like an arrow at women who wear sexy clothing that doesn’t fit well or simply shows more than needed on a woman who is seemingly too old to carry it off. Even some celebrities are disparaged by the talking heads on fashion television or magazines for being a cougar or simply wearing outfits that should be left to younger women.

So what is a girl to do? We suggest that girls ignore everyone but themselves and dress however they feel appropriate. Gone are the days where anyone is capable of setting artificial standards for the unwashed masses. How absure that some self appointed “fashion mavens” dare to suggest they know what is best for other girls! Fashion is about fun and sure there will be some women who wear clothing that is too tight, too short or age inappropriate. One would hope that a woman would check in the mirror and prevent that muffin top, or correct those rolls of fat but if she doesn’t no one if being hurt in the least. This “attempt” to prevent these fashion mistakes is admirable but a complete waste of time.

So what is sexy and not slutty or simply offensive? The answer isn’t as easy as it may sound as part of it depends on the surroundings and the time of day. Sexy at 9:00 am is quite different than at 11:00 at night. Most recognize that evening is the time to get sexy while the morning is more for everyday wear. Why is that? Perhaps that adults inhabit the night and children should be tucked away in their beds away from the sight of sexy girls in their skimpy skirt and dresses. Perhaps evening wear is less obvious in the dark of the night and you can get away with wearing clothing that won’t make it during the day.

Thus a sexy skirt at midnight is very likely overly revealing all the way to slutty at night. A woman in high heels and a short dress in makeup at lunch at the local eatery is likely a spectacle while the night before she was simply one of the beautiful girls at a club. Yet this still does not answer the question what is slutty versus what is sexy? Another clue is where are you when the question comes up. In a casino in Las Vegas it may not matter what you are or aren’t wearing as the latitude a girl has in an entertainment venue with women servers wearing an abbreviated waitress outfit is far different than virtually anywhere else.

So how much skin is too much? Does it solely rely on a sense of modesty? Likely yes as girls make a decision every day and as they usually conform to the environment and other people’s perceptions. Society has rules whether we like it or not and most of us depend on it to set the lines beyond which we dare not go.

This is one reason why we have places and occasions where girls let is hang out with impunity. Whatever she has in mind there is plenty of selection when she wants to show off her legs, bust or derriere. Sexy clothing means a lot of things to a lot of girls and the options are enormous.
