Sexy Lingerie for Full Figured Women!

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Sexy lingerie for full figured women is lingerie for curvy women with voluptuous bodies. Full figured women have curves and sexy lingerie allows them to look and feel as sexy as they want to be. When was the last time you saw a size 14, 16 or 18 woman on a runway wearing a sexy bra or better yet, sexy panties? The likely answer is never! With plus size women being a significant portion of the U.S. population you would think plus size models and plus size fashion would be much more visible in the media whether it be television, magazines or billboards.

Plus Size Lingerie is sexy lingerie for full figured women and is worn by millions of women but doesn’t get much play in the media. As a youth oriented culture we worship everything young and as a nation obsessed with slender, even skinny women we also worship everything slim. Women with curves are acceptable to a point with the word “fat” or “overweight” being considered nearly curse words. We accept size 34DD breasts on a woman who wear a size 4 but not on a woman who wears a size 14 or 16.

So what is a woman who is voluptuous or curvy to do? Wear more sexy lingerie is the only answer. Plus size women do not wear sexy lingerie as much as their more slender sisters. There is much speculation as to the reasons why but part of the reason is the selection of sexy plus size lingerie does not match that of missy sizes. So is it the chicken or the egg? In other words does demand for sexy lingerie determine supply or does supply determine demand. Well it is a little of both as suppliers and manufacturers will attempt to make as much sexy lingerie as they can to meet demand. On the other hand many suppliers are content to create sexy lingerie for women not in the plus size market as the demand is consistent, the market is fairly well defined and the plus size market is still an unknown quotient to a large degree.

Unlike outerwear, women don’t have to wear sexy lingerie. Women wear lingerie for a number of reasons but since it is usually worn in the privacy of their bedrooms, lingerie is often substituted with pajamas, t-shirts and panties, and the proverbial flannel night gown. Do plus size women opt for the safe and unsexy utilitarian bed clothes more than their regular sized sisters? While statistics are hard to come by the truth is wearing sexy lingerie is risky. Risky in that a woman’s body is on display in ways men never really appreciate other than they love the exposure of the woman’s body, breasts, derriere, tummy and other sexy parts. Women though often have conflicting feelings about wearing clothing that exposes and even accentuates her sagging breasts, flabby thighs or unfirm butt. While the man in her life is pleased, proud and aroused at the sight of his girlfriend or wife in all her near naked glory, a woman may worry about those perceived flaws thus being unable to truly enjoy the moment.  Do plus size women have this worry more than regular sized women? Probably as they have more weight to deal with and thus those flaws, real or perceived are increased.

Lingerie isn’t meant to hide flaws although many types of lingerie can and do improve a woman’s figure. Careful purchasing can make every woman look sexier, slimmer or just more voluptuous and that is definitely a good thing. No woman should fear wearing sexy lingerie regardless of her weight any more than fearing lingerie because of her hair color, height or education. Simply put every woman is a sexual being and lingerie can and should enhance that truth as well as make her feel and look sexy.

Gains are being made towards greater acceptance of full figured women in sexy and revealing lingerie. Online communities are growing that seek to empower full figured women in every aspect of their lives and a likely benefit is women’s acceptance of themselves, their bodies and that is a very positive step. While wearing sexy lingerie is not a political statement, it does reflect a plus sized woman’s acceptance of her body.  Changing attitudes won’t happen quickly but in time every woman will be more comfortable in her own skin. The question then will be who benefits more, the woman who loves the body she sees in the mirror or the man who gets the gift of seeing her.

Each new lingerie season there are more and more options for curvaceous cuties to buy sexy clothing and lingerie as more vendors recognize that the demand for misses sized lingerie is not growing robustly as that of full figured lingerie. The untapped demand for plus size mini skirts, plus size costumes and sexy clothes in general is huge. Socially the results are mixed as society may or may not be ready for sexy plus size women in sexy clothes where they are more visible. A recent controversy involving retailer Lane Bryant is indicative of the reluctance of at least a couple of television networks to allow commercials including a plus size woman with plus size breasts in a bra. Apparently the networks were nervous about a woman’s breasts in a bra. Women have breasts but perhaps a woman’s breasts are ok if they are on a slender model, even if they are enhanced and large. A real woman’s breasts are very sexy and in fact too sexy as the commercial was not allowed to run. There is a strong social prohibition against exposing her breasts in public although perhaps there are two standards. One for the slender woman with big breasts and the other for plus size women with large breasts.

Busty Bras - You Want Me To Wear That ?

Busty bras are simply bra for women with large busts or busty women. But when offered the busty bras women often ask “You want me to wear that”? The reason is busty bras too often offer too little support yet offer plenty of sheer, lace and frilly details and forget that busy women really need support, otherwise they can bounce around when jiggle is inappropriate. Busty women wear bras and know all to well that not all bras for busty women are made alike.

Every buxom girl has, at one point or another, faced the nightmare of walking into a department or lingerie store, and started shopping for a new bra, thinking, “Oh, I’ll find that sexy little sheer black number in a DD instead of an A”. Suddenly, you’re faced with the horror of the Big Bra Rack — in the dimly lit corner of the store, full of white, tan and brown straitjackets and bullet-proof vests, an absolute nightmare awaits you…The size A bra is sexy, feminine and very appealing to the eye, particularly the eyes of your boyfriend or husband. The reality is often that the DD bra is a hideous tan or nude or even worse white and at 22, you will look like grandma at 74.

Some women grow so accustomed to the world of Grandma Gear, they are now lost in the world of Playtex 18-Hour spandex and polyester. The rebels give up on bras entirely, opting for sports bras and shelf tanks rather than being caught dead in “one of those”. The tech-savvy girl is on all the catalog mailing lists, waiting for them to notify her by e-mail when they receive the one cute bra the manufacturer will ever make in a 44F. And the crafty girl gives up entirely and buys herself some supplies and a “Sew Your Own Bra” book at the local sewing store.

Bustier girls find bra shopping can be hard on your wallet, too. Most companies tend to charge more for bigger bras because of the additional fabric and work that goes into making them.

But don’t despair! You don’t have to wear something that looks like it came out of Auntie Annabel’s closet. Here are a few tips and tricks so you can make the most out of your sexy bra wardrobe:

- Be realistic. The sheer and specialty fabrics probably aren’t going to give you the support you need. You do not need the trauma of wearing a bra made out of flimsy mesh that ripped five minutes into wearing it because it wasn’t designed for you. Plus, you probably don’t have the time to hand wash every delicate piece of clothing you wear. Buy firm, supportive bras that can do double duty – work and play. Satin, lace, embroidered cotton and microfiber are good fabrics to start with.

- Get creative! An otherwise plain satin bra can become sexy when you pair it with a matching thong, two-toned backseam stockings, and a cute pair of kitten heels. Don’t be coerced into thinking that plain can’t be sexy.

- Buy bras that coordinate with other items. When you’re shopping, ask if they have matching pieces. You can wear the bra and panty by day and add the garter belt and stockings at night…

- If they don’t have it in your size or color, ask if you can special order. You may have to place a minimum order, so ask what the return policy is in case you don’t like it.

- The final and key point to remember is comfort. You won’t wear it if it’s comfortable, so why buy it at all? Let’s face it sometimes you have to sacrifice comfort for fashion or style. That sheer bra that you adored at flirty lingerie may not be the most supportive but you and your husband just love the way it looks on you, so what are you going to do? Well, buy the bra as you don’t likely intend to wear it to work or all day. If you are going to wear it to work or all day perhaps the fully supportive, plain vanilla bra is the most appropriate.
